"Why Should We Celebrate Black History Month?"

This has been the question I have been struggling to answer this past month and I believe it has been a topic on a lot of peoples brain, or maybe its just me.

Now Black History Month (BHM) is where us as african americans celebrate, honor, and pay homage to our ancestors. More importantly it is a month to learn and teach our youth and other races and nationality about african american cultures. First of all, why does it have to be limited to one month..... some people argue and are right that it is the shortest month, its true. Yes i am complaining about this for a second but I have a reason to, why you ask, because instead of learning and celebrating our history one month out of the year..... it should be a day to day and a all year thing.

Now you may be wondering if i am just going to ramble on about why us african americans only get a month. If you are then you don't know anything about me. This is way bigger than you think it is, yes we do get a month but what about other races such as my latino/ mexican brothers and sisters i mean they only get a day to celebrate where they come from and its not even broadcasted... i mean no news coverage (unless violence breaks out), no commercials, no movies/ marathons... nothing just a street or two blocked off and a party!!!! Where is the HISTORY in that????? No one knows because no on tells. Yes we get a month, it should be a year but what about the person next to you who is from another country ask them how many months do you get???? Wait let me change that... How many days do you get????? Where is the equality????

Now this may make some people a little upset but next year I will not celebrate BHM!!!!!! Why???? Because I don't need a seperated month to learn about my culture, I can do anytime I want to!!! There is always research you can tap into.... GOOGLE is filled with all kinds of stuff, if you can prove me wrong i would like to see you try. You may be wondering "Well maybe you don't need BHM to learn your history but what about others who need to be taught like are youth" YOU BIG DUMMY..... GO TEACH THEM!!!!!! Don't wait until BHM to educate our youth about who fredrick douglas was.... or what abraham lincoln did for slaves!!!! Do it now why keep good information all year when they can already have the knowledge.

I hope if you are reading this article that it changes your perspective of BHM....I just had to get that off my chest..... please feel free to give feedback.

50 Tyson ~ A Rap Star or Just another dude Who got hits on YOUTUBE

OK first of all let me start out by saying that I am not by any means putting down or dissing 50 Tyson,  But I will put down Society for allowing this to happen.  This Morning i watched the official 50 Tyson Video - I ain't gonna lie and me personally i couldn't take it anymore.  its not the fact that 50 Tyson is doing his thing but the problem for me is how he got so big.  Before he got his 5 minutes  of fame (my predictions) how many of us really thought he was acting a fool and you just watched all of his YOUTUBE videos just so you can laugh.  Before you knew his story how many of us knew for a fact that he had Autism  (You cant answer that question unless you personally knew him).  To me Society glorifies things such as 50 Tyson way more than it should be.  Before we knew he was autistic was we talking about he was a role model to autistic kids....... NOOOOO..... I will give you another example of what I am talking about William Hung... We all know him from American idol (Which I never liked to begin with just the title is wrong to me.... if you don't know what I am talking about you should read your BIBLE more).  William Hung became a millionaire off of one CD he put singing songs from past and present artist.  Now you may be wondering what is my point.... My point is I believe there is a lot of talented artist all over the world who struggle to get their music heard but yet SOCIETY goes ahead and puts William Hung and 50 Tyson on a Pedestal with some garbage and makes money off of it.  Kind of makes me sad to see where hip hop has evolved but that is another Blog in the near future.  I am just happy Hip Hop is not my Genre of choice.  Below I attached the link to his new video if you have not seen it yet.

Peace Yall

Heaven or Hell?

We know that what we reap we sow
But we forget how low we can go
You think it's bad here on earth
But if we don't get to heaven it's Hell

It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)
Yup, they giving us (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)

Every Sunday dressing up catching gossip at its worst
Couldn't see the difference in the Baptist and the Catholic Church
Caught up in the rapture of the first chapter and second verse
If we all God's children then what's the word of the reverend worth
Taught early that faith is blind like justice when you facing time
If we all made in God's image then that means his face is mine
Wait or it's that blasphemy it's logical it has to be
If I don't look like my father then the way I live is bastardly
Naturally that's confusion to a young'n trying to follow Christ
Taught that if you don't know Jesus then you lead a hollow life
Never question the fact that Jesus was Jewish not a Christian
Or that Christianity was law according to politicians
Who was King James?
And why did he think it was so vital to remove chapters and make his own
version of the Bible
They say Hell is underground and Heaven is in the sky
And they say that's where you go when you die but how they know

We know that what we reap we sow
But we forget how low we can go
You think it's bad here on earth
But if we don't get to heaven it's Hell

It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)
Yup, they giving us (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)

I've been to many churches I've quoted many verses
I've dealt with my base self I controlled my many urges
I used to study my lessons
It was a blessing not a curse
I learned that Heaven and Hell exist right here on Earth, word
Studied with Rastafarians and learned from the dreads that Hell is called
Babylon
And that's where them crazy boarheads dwell
They got us thinking that Muslims like to make bombs
But real Muslims believe in paradise and the resist the Shaitan
So it all sound the same to me
That's why when they say one is right and the other is wrong it just sound
like game to me
It's like God skipped past the church and came to me
No that ain't vein to me
It's just a particular way that I came to see
The difference between those who claim to be
Religious and those that say they spiritual
And recognizing that life is full of miracles
You could see my glow in a rhyme
The poem divine 'cause it coincide with a grow in the time that those who
looking for God knowin' to go inside

We know that what we reap we sow
But we forget how low we can go
You think it's bad here on earth
But if we don't get to heaven it's Hell

It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)
Yup, they giving us (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)
Yup, they giving us (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)

Yo, living in mass confusion
Looking for absolution
The gas seducing and psychopath produce the last solution
Based on his interpretation of what the words were saying
Trying to get to God but ended up doing the work of Satin
Religion create the vision
Make the Muslim hate the Christian
Make the Christian hate the Jew
Make the rules of faith
That you condition to and to you gotta follow
And God forbid you go to Hell
But if you ever walked through any ghetto then you know it well
We in the third eye of the storm
We know that what we reap we sow
But we forget how low we can go
You think it's bad here on earth
But if we don't get to heaven it's Hell

It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)
Yup, they giving us (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
It's all going to (Hell)
Yup, we living in (Hell)
Yup, they giving us (Hell)

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want
Just because the lord is my shepherd don't mean I gotta be no sheep
You feel me?
More blood is spilled over religion than anything in world history
We saying the same thing

Taking Responsibility For Our Kids

So as I was on my way home from work as always I am listening to my music and this song came on called He say she say by Lupe Fiasco.  Its kind of funny because this mourning I was listening to KMOJ and they were talking about child support and this one lady called in and said that the men should take more responsibility for their children and as i was listening to the words this is a perfect example of why we should start stepping up to the plate.  Even myself I don't have kids currently but I can be a positive role model to the young men who are not fortunate to have a good role model in their everyday life.  Can you imagine what it might be like for a child who has no father on Fathers Day.  I know its tough to here but here are the lyrics to the song but I encourage you to pull the song up on youtube and hear for yourself.

I can't, I won't, I can't, I won't
Let you leave
I don't know what you want
You want more from me?

She said to him
"I want you to be a father
He's your little boy and you don't even bother
Like "brother" without the R
And he's starting to harbor
Cool and food for thought
But for you he's a starver
Starting to use red markers on his work
His teacher say they know he's much smarter
But he's hurt
Used to hand his homework in first
Like he was the classroom starter
Burst to tears
Let them know she see us
Now he's fighting in class
Got a note last week that say he might not pass
Ask me if his daddy was sick of us
Cause you ain't never pick him up
You see what his problem is?
He don't know where his poppa is
No positive male role model
To play football and build railroad models
It's making a hole you've been digging it
Cause you ain't been kicking it
Since he was old enough to hold bottles
Wasn't supposed to get introduced to that
He don't deserve to get used to that
Now I ain't asking you for money or to come back to me
Some days it ain't sunny but it ain't so hard
Just breaks my heart
When I try to provide and he say 'Mommy that ain't your job'
To be a man, I try to make him understand
That I'm his number one fan
But its like he born from the stands
You know the world is out to get him,
so why don't you give him a chance?"

I can't, I won't, I can't, I won't
Let you leave
I don't know what you want
You want more from me?

So he said to him
"I want you to be a father
I'm your little boy and you don't even bother
Like "brother" without the R
And I'm starting to harbor

Who are we Loving?

Today as my devotional reading, I read Luke 6:20-45.  I want to share this with you cause it something that I think us as humans struggle with this.  So it goes like this

20 And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say,  "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21  "Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. 22  "Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of man. 23  "Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven.  For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets. 24  "But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full. 25  "Woe to you who are well-fed now, for you shall be hungry.  Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep. 26  "Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way. 27 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. 28  Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 "Whoever hits you on the cheek offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. 30 "Give to everyone who ask of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. 31 "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. 32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?  For even sinners love those who love them. 33 "If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?  For even sinners do the same. 34 "If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you?  Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. 35 "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return;and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36 "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. 37 "Do no judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. 38 "Give, and it will be given to you.  they will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over.  For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return." 39 And he also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he?  Will the not both fall into a pit? 40 "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher. 41 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 "Or how can you say to your brother, "Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. 43 "For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. 44 "For each tree is known by its own fruit.  For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. 45 "The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
